Opening an account is not smooth. This was also true for Schwab and TradeStation. They fail equally in this regard. However, Schwab had a phone number I could call.
I have raised two support tickets since opening accounts.
I opened a sole margin account first. Then I opened a joint account. Somewhere during the opening process the workflow assigned a nationality to me that is not correct. I cannot change it. Since I want all the i's dotted and t's crossed before I use IB (especially since their support is so distant...) I raised a ticket to address this. I finally obtained a response 11 days later with a half-baked apology and the assumption that my problem was solved. I responded the next day. 3 weeks later I updated the ticket and I think I got some movement, but nothing since (that was 2025-04-19). Gentle reminders sent by me have had no effect.
The second ticket (raised 2025-04-30) was a question about handling of non-USD cash wrt deposit insurance. Important to me because my accounts are held under the U.S.A. entity. No response so far. I sent a ping today.
