We wanted to make two separate transactions, from two different accounts (one an AUD account, the other an NZD account - both with the same bank) to purchase a vehicle in the UK. The first transaction went well. However , the second , minor transaction (approx NZD 5000), was stalled for 6 days. During this time I contacted OFX 4 times,. They always said the transfer was pending. Then when I phoned again on Day 4, they suddenly needed additional information which we promptly provided as best we could. Notably, OFX never bothered to contact us about the delay nor to ask for further info. In the end, they said couldn't guarantee that the transfer would be made within our fast shrinking payment timeframe.. By that time the money had been sitting in the OFX account for 5 days. This delay was extraordinarily inconvenient and put us in a contractually awkward position with our UK counterpart. And just to clarify: this is not a gripe about compliance, this is entirely about a complete lack of customer communication.
We've asked for our funds to be returned. Needless to say, we will never again deal with OFX and cannot recommend this provider to anyone who requires certainty of timeliness.
The total absence of communication on their part was beyond abysmal and is frankly inexcusable.
